Snyder Bar began in 1995 as Lowcountry Bar Service in a tiny mini-storage unit on Wappo Road in West Ashley. It was the brain child for what has become Snyder Event Rentals today. Keith Snyder moved to Charleston, SC from, you guessed it – Cleveland, Ohio. He sold insurance and bartended on the side. The bartending was a lot more fun than the insurance business so he began Lowcountry Bar Service. A bartending service for special events such as weddings, corporate events and holiday parties. A bartending service that caterers, coordinators or anyone having an event could hire and not have to deal with the legalities, staffing, inventory and most of all liquor liability insurance.
Today, Lowcountry Bar Service is called simply, Snyder Bar. We operate under the same principles and ideas that our fearless leader instilled some 15 years ago. We are a TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) certified business. Over 75% of our bartending staff is TIPS certified meaning we practice responsible service, sale, and consumption of alcohol. Our responsibility does not end with safe alcohol sales. We also do what we can for our environment. Snyder Bar uses only recyclable and bio-degradable plastic cups, we recycle our of our wine bottles, liquor bottles, plastic mixer (sodas, club, tonic, etc..) containers and all the beer cans and bottles we can. We have a Charleston County Recycling dump site on our property and we are the busiest site in North Charleston.
Over the years we have seen tremendous growth. Today we are located in an over 80,000 square foot warehouse that is home to Snyder Party Rental, Snyder Bar and Snyder Lounge. Although we exist cohesively, we have three different identities, personality and staff. We are proud of our accomplishments, but more proud that together with the outstanding caterers, coordinators and event industry professionals throughout the lowcountry we have made Charleston, SC one of the top destination wedding cities in the USA. So whether it’s a wedding, a corporate event or a small party in your home… You can count on us, we’ve got you covered!
Kelly Kanwischer
LeaderKelly’s nickname around Snyder is “Fargo” – and not because she is known to put body parts in a wood chipper. No, she was born in Fargo, North Dakota in 1977 – you betcha! After spending the winter of 2000 sandbagging the flooding Red River, she just knew there had to be a better way. So she packed her bags and headed south for Charleston to live with her twin sister. Since then she has been a successful restaurant manager at Bocci’s on the Market and Triangle Char Bar West of the Ashley. In January 2007 she joined the Snyder Team. Using her restaurant management skills, Kelly has been an integral part to the success and growth of Snyder Event Services over the past few years. And don’t let her 5’2” stature fool ya’ – this one has run a marathon in Alaska and can lay down a Scorpion at any dance party!

ManagerMatt moved to Charleston in 2004 from you guessed again….Cleveland OH. Matt’s passion and enthusiasm for the industry, and love for the lowcountry make him a natural fit in this position. He has been in the Hospitality Industry for nearly 20 years serving in a variety of rolls from Executive Chef, Restaurant General Manager, Banquets and Events coordinator, to the now Bar Manager of Charleston’s largest and highest quality Bar Service.
